FAQ's
Q: What can I expect from a teletherapy session?
A: Teletherapy is mental health therapy that is provided by a licensed therapist via a secure video connection. Clients are able to interact with the therapist on a secured platform through video conference, chat features, interactive games and activities.
Q: How do I prepare for my virtual session?
A: One of the major benefits of teletherapy is the client's ability to receive confidential therapy where they feel comfortable. Find a space that provides comfort and privacy. Confirm that you have access to a secured internet connection, and your computer software and other devices are updated. Using headphones during your virtual session can provide increased privacy and improve the audio quality of the call. Bringing snacks, meals, tissues, and comfort items are all encouraged, especially for younger clients.
Q: Does my appointment request confirm my session?
A: The appointment request feature does not confirm an appointment. The appointment request feature enables Brighter Days Insight to easily contact those seeking to schedule an appointment or inquire about our services.
Q: Is teletherapy just as effective as in person therapy?
A: The most current data on the use of teletherapy has shown that teletherapy is "just as effective as face to face therapy" and often "has higher retention rates". For more information about the effectiveness of teletherapy, check out this article published by the American Psychological Association (APA).
Q: If I'm having a mental health emergency, should I call the virtual office or log into my client portal for help?
A: No, if you or your loved one is experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911 for immediate assistance. Our resource page offers additional resources that may also be helpful during crisis situations.
